I'm African American, and recently I've been noticing breakage and thinning in one section of my hair line. I try not to wear my hair up as often, because I feel as though this is the culprit. I need a remedy! I can not go bald in this section of my forehead will look HUMongous! What are some things I can do to give this hair a rest, and get it growing again. I dunno if it's always looked like this or if I'm just making things up, everyone tells me that I'm seeing things, but who's really gonna honestly tell me I'm balding...
I am African American, but I don't have really "kinky" (to be politically correct), I get a relaxer every 4-6 months, and I straight my hair with a flat iron maybe between once every 2 weeks - twice a week. I often use a cotton scarf, which I heard is bad.
Also I've noticed breakage in one area of the side of my head, it usually breaks in the center this time of year, but this time it's on the side... Perhaps all this is from stress?
Any help is appreciat
Hair breaking around hairline-African American?
i had the same problem a couple of years ago. do you wear braids? if so how often? also, the type of comb and brush you use may have effect on that too. try wearing your hair down more, and also go to your local sallys beauty supply and they often have alot of hair growth products.
hope this helps
good luck

go to a beauty supply store and buy some dr. miracle and a silk hair scarf. your edges should grow back in a little while
