Why majority of African Americans have short hair...is it difficult to grow?

I do know that a lot of black people put lots of chemicals in their hair in efforts to conform with society.

I notice that a lot of black people that have long hair don't use chemicals in their hair and wear it naturally.

Not that I am against perms and relaxers, but i do notice this

It's super curly %26amp; therefore grows slower, the hair folicles are inside out making it difficult for natual oil to travel down the shaft of the hair which can make the hair dry %26amp; brittle %26amp; break easily

I am a hairdresser and most black hair is very dry and breaks easily.

Not impossible to grow but have to use conditioners and not be rough with the hair.
