I am wondering how well the Maxiglide works on African American's who have thick and coarse hai

I am a African American female who has very thick, coarse hair. I've recently decided to go 'natural' with my hair and haven't applied any chemicals to my hair in over 3 months. I am looking for products or methods that will help me straighten my hair while I'm letting my processed hair grow out and my 'new growth hair' come in.

Or should I not even bother with straighteners right now and just cut off all my processed hair and began anew? I was told that that is the easiest route to take when trying to go natural with your hair. If this is the best method, what would be the easiest and best way to wear my hair fashionably, but at the same time making sure that it is healthy?

I am wondering how well the Maxiglide works on African American's who have thick and coarse hair.?

the whole point of transitioning to natural hair is so you can slowly get use to your natural hair texture...trying to make your natural hair as straight as your relaxed hair will make your hair break off where the different textures meet. it is best if you want to keep your length to start doing natural styles (twists, cornrows, rollersets). or you could just cut all your relaxed hair off so you don't have to worry about two different textures that have two different sets of needs

I am wondering how well the Maxiglide works on African American's who have thick and coarse hair.?

I'm 13, african american, and have very naturally curly hair. My mom bought me a maxi-glide, and it works so well!!! No joke. It works on all hair types and texturess =]]. I was even able to slide my fingers through my hair. I love it so much! It also comes with an instructional DVD, so have no worries. And don't listen to what the other person above said. It works great. It doesn't burn you as long as you follow the proper guidlines mentioned in the DVD. If a 13 year old whose had it for over a month and doesn't burn themselves, a grown woman should have no problem with it.

How do i make my hair grow 15 inches march or july??

Soorrry theres no way, 15inches in july.

Some people's hair is like that. We cant do anything. but try this one, if ya see improvement after a month or two ,do it

regularly. i think it might work as the ingredients can make hair grow.

Hair Growth Mixture

-1/4 c pure Vitamin E oil

-1/4 c castor or jojoba oil

-15 drops of rosemary oil

-15 drops of peppermint oil

Place ingredients in a container %26amp; mix well. Use one fingertip to dip into the mixture %26amp; gently massage.

The ingredients are known to aid in hair growth, which is perfect for helping regrow the hairline.

It is fine to use little every night, only if you clean your hair often (at least a few times per week).

Its important to rinse off heavy oils so they won't clog your hair follicles - which can cause itches

and slow down hair growth.

How do i make my hair grow 15 inches march or july??

breaded? you mean braided?

How do i make my hair grow 15 inches march or july??

ok, normal hair grows about a half an inch a month. fyi

How do i make my hair grow 15 inches march or july??

Not gonna happen. Your hair grows about as fast as your fingernails. Be patient. it will get there.

How do i make my hair grow 15 inches march or july??

You can try getting extensions or even a full weave. My hair grows really slow too, and I had a weave for about 3 months. When I took it out my hair had grown a lot! Weaves are kinda expensive (probably about $300 for the hair and weave) but it's really worth it, especially if your hair bothers you a lot!

Hair help again!?!? Soft Curls!?

Can someone please help me! If you're a hair expert or just someone who might happen to know! How do i get soft curls/waves like in the following pictures?? I'm biracial, but my hair is straight right now (so it's more like relaxed African American hair). Everytime I try to curl my hair with a curling iron, it NEVER CURLS OR STAYS!! Should I try hot rollers? Someone please help!

http://cdn.channel.aol.com/channels/00/0...

http://www.celebrity-gossip.net/images/p...

Hair help again!?!? Soft Curls!?

I am not a professional stylist, but I do my hair and my two daughters. My oldest daughter has a hair texture similar to yours - curly when wet, but can be straightened with a flat iron. The style you have in your pictures is how she loves to wear her hair. Here is what I do to help her get it:

The first thing is you need to have hair that length or a little shorter - less than shoulder length is going to be hard because it will curl, more than wave.

Second, usually when I am pressing out her hair with the flat iron, I just turn it a half turn once or twice as it goes down. Use light curling wax as you do it.

Third, if she wants to wear it straight and then wear it wavy. The second day after she has it straight, I do thin to medium size sections and use a light dab of curling wax. Use a 1 1/2" curling iron and wrap it around that. Let it cool before you comb it out so the curl will stay.

This should help you, but it will take practice. Trying to get your hair that type of wave is a little hard, but it can be done. Good luck. :)

Hair help again!?!? Soft Curls!?

Try using big rollers, they are hard to do yourself but you will get the same effect. Just try not to blow dry too much. Put the curlers in when your hair it almost dry and spray it a bit and then use the blow drier.

Hair help again!?!? Soft Curls!?

I am not sure this will work with your hair type but have you tried the "twist pink bendable skinny rollers?" They have pink plastic all over a bendable wire - you can twist them in different directions and they do put a nice wave in, You say you have tried a curling iron, but have you used a product designed to style your hair to get the right amount of curl? Check with a

local hair stylist at a salon for a product that will make the difference - or sometime a change in a shampoo with styling ingredients may work.....good luck? p.s. love the pictures, oh to have all that long hair...maybe it is extensions?? :0)

Also, try big rollers, then put them in before going into shower, the steam maybe enough to cause your hair to be full when you take them out...when you take them out do it gently and when they are all out bend over and shake your head....flip your head back and add with your hands a light touch of

mousse for the hair - it should help to hold the wave you want.

Good luck!

Hair help again!?!? Soft Curls!?

if you have relaxed your hair it will be difficult to curl it with an iron. try a thermal active styling product. it protects from heat and aids in staying power. if you haven't relaxed your hair try it anyway. use a 1 1/2" or larger barrel iron to achieve that curl.

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

I am white and my daughter is black.(mixed) She is 4 and her hair is out of control because I dont know how to take care of it. She is a very beautiful little girl but with her hair the way it is, she needs me to make her hair look better. Could someone give me some tips that I could do to tame her hair?

Also I was wondering If there was a website or something I could go to, to look up haircuts and styles for african american hair. I was thinking about getting her hair cut to start over and I need some pictures to look at. Would really appreciate it!

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

I'm black mixed, and I have a daughter who is 3 and her father is white. She has mid-back length hair that is all over the place when she wakes up in the morning. Its a curly grade, not frizzy or "nappy" but it is still kind of... lol! What I do is use a wide tooth comb and a little hair lotion like BB, its a really good brand for little kids, and a bit of spray on detangler like Just For Me. First I spray on the detangler, then comb from the ends of her hair and work my way through until all of the tangles are out. After that I put in the hair lotion and she has perfect spirials that need no more styling unless I choose to put her hair in a ponytail or two french braids. Mixed race hair isn't all that much of a matter, its only becomes an obstacle if you see it as one. Also, don't wash her hair everyday, that only incerases the dryness, if you rinse it and condition it every other night that should suffice.

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

your best bet might be to go to a professional hair salon that specializes in black hair care... its hard to say without seeing your daughters actual hair (how kinky or curly it is etc), but if they see it they can recommend products that would work for her, or styles that you can do at home. good luck!

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

At Wal Mart there is an "ethnic" i.e. black hair section. Also some of my friends use some coconut oil stuff.

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

Try conditioner and a little trim and if that isn't enough you can purchase stuff that is good at control that texture hair. Call a salon that works with that type of hair. Go to a supply store and ask what products you can use. Good Luck.

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

Are there any beauticians in your area that do african/american hair? I had a friend who has mixed kids-she would go to Wal-Mart to get some kind of gel or something to put in their hair after she washed their hair. I'm sorry I don't know exactly what product she used.

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

Im mixed race too but make sure you comb her hair! even though its painful for her believe me i would know comb it! and never leave it dry get pomades and creams to bring out the curls

%26amp; dont go to a normal hairdresser got to a black hairdressers because they have more of idea of what to do

are you with her dad still? cos if you are ask the family about hair and what to do etc

x

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

I think it's best to go to bring her to a salon. There may be some treatment that can be done to tame her hair :)

I need some hair help! Please help me!?

You could brid it in tight braids to tame it or put it in a tight pony tail just to pull it back. look up braiding because there is a ton of stuff that you could do to it.

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

my hair is totally unruly. i cant control it! the only way i can straighten it is at a salon. bit i recently moved adn there are no salons and hours length away !! i need my hair straightened and i have african american hair. so regualar staightened works. I dont have a hot comb. what should i do?? i dont want any wise *** remarks either that involve a wig , shaving my hair or anything else like that so..ya lol thx

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

do these three steps:

1- immediately after shower, use a polishing serum (Citri-shine/Walmart) a blob about the size of a nickel, massage in, use wide-tooth pick to comb through, and wrap hair with towel. It feels like lube, so don't use too much. Do not brush wet hair!!!!

--do your makeup stuff while it sits in your hair under the towel.

2- spritz on ProShine oil or Citri-shine (Walmart) use sparingly (no more than 3 sprays) comb with a wide-tooth pick, then finer tooth comb carefully as not to break tangled hair. This spreads it more evenly.

3- Pin up top of head section, and sides with three mini-aligator clips, leave lower layer down, dry around big round brush (3" diameter) with soft bristles using high heat, turning the brush frequently, and slowly pulling away from the root, and holding the hairdryer close to your hairbrush pointing down (using a concentrator helps), as not to frizz it up. Keep turning the brush to smooth it as it drys.

This won't take long to do each section, and will keep it smoother and softer until you can get a hold of a ceramic straightener. When you do, make that the finishing step. Or, you can finish by pulling a curling iron through without stopping, just as long as you are careful not to rip hairs out.

If you have thick hair, spritx 1-2 shots of the PureShine oil when your hair is all dry, to give it shine. If you have fine hair, don't put any more products in it or it will look greasy and unwashed.

Play with the amounts of products to find out what works best for you. I straighten almost daily, and I have figured out the hair has "memory" of how it has been dryed, and if you dry it fast and high heat, it stays straight longer. You will be turning your hairdryer on an off a few times for about 20-30 seconds per section (if your hair is fine) and 30-40 for thick hair.

Never just dry your hair with the dryer on the entire time, waving it around, and constantly brushing it straight. This is where the most damage occurs. Hair is easily broken when wet, and you will fry the cuticle with constant air blowing on it. Do it in sections, with minimal blowdryer action.

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

maybe a perm will help

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

If it's completely awful, throw it in a clip or ponytail. Can you run to the drugstore and get some conditioner and hair gel? If you can't, put a little lotion in your hair, not too much so its greasy- just enough to contain it. It's a secret some people swear by!

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

I think you should leave it of get a stritener!!!!!!

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

okay. go buy a ceramic hair straightener. before that but on mousse or hair spray. dont buy the metal straightener they burn your hair.

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

AFTER THE SHOWER JSUT PUT SOME CURLING MOUSE IN IT OR SOMETHING. ITLL BRING OUT YOUR HAIRS SHAPE AND BOUNCE, you dont need to damage it every day by straightening it

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

get a hair relaxer or you can use a home perm and just straighten it instead of curling it. You can also use an actual iron. Thats what they used to do back in the day before flat irons.

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

try and see if there is a walmart or any beauty shop nearby, and buy yourself a straightener. there are also home perm kits to make your hair straight, but it may not stay for long if your hair is extremely coarse..i think the best option is a good, medium-priced straightener like remington or conair. if you have the money, try and find a chi straightener..they work great!

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

I KNOW THIS MIGHT NOT BE A BIG HELP BUT IT'S ALL I GOT.

KK SO I HAVE TUFF HAIR TO AND IT IS HARD TO STRAIGHTEN AND WHAT I DO IS I USE A STRAIGHTNER THAT IS LIKE A CURLING IRON TO AND IS 2 INCHES WIDE AND I THINK IT WORKS PRETTY WELLTHE BRAND IS GEMAR AND IT IS PRETTY EXSPENSIVE ABOUT 40-60 DOLLARS AND IS VERY RARE MOST PPL HAVN'T HEARD OF IT. I HOPE I WAS A HELP!

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

Buy one of those ceramic flat irons... I have unruly curly hair too and it works great! The one they sell on tv on QVC is fan freeking tastic.. It works with steam and it is really wonderful!

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

maybe if i were u i would go get my hair done at the beuty colleg because they do it great and also thier cheaper.

Hair EMERGENCY_please please helpp?

I used to use an actual iron to straighten my hair. My hair is really thick and used to take too long and was too hard to straighten. This works excellent and better than a hair straightener.

If you sit at the end of your bed and put all your hair on top of the bed and ask someone to split your haid into 3 or 4 sections, get them to brush your hair along the bed and run the iron along straight after, and continue. try and roll your head around aswell, so they can get the sides done too and see if you can sit up a little so the roots can be done a bit easier. Hope these instructions make sense.

ok...that person b4 me is stupid. this question has nothing to do with a moustache.

the people in your first picture's hair is short. i think you mean your hair is like this

http://images.jupiterimages.com/common/d... ...except shorter... just grow your hair out long, the curls will get loger and weighted down. if you hair is short now, they can spring up and give you an afro. even shoulder lenght hair. it also depends on how thick your hair is. if it's really thick like the people in this web page:
