Keep it long enough to be pulled or slicked back. It needs to be off your neck, so it'll either be cut that short or pulled into a bun. I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure you can't have cornrows, microbraids or anything like that.

Single french braid, and tuck at the nape to keep it out of the way.

A short fro, would proball be best.
Your not gonna have time to braid your hair in basic, nor put in corn rows.
So your gonna want it short enough, you can basicly shower, run a towel over it,
And not have to worry about pickin it or brushing it.

short and very easy to care for. this is not a beauty pageant and you'll be lucky to have time to sit on the toilet for a few minutes every day, much less take care of your hair.

You will be told how short it can be. In the Marines I am not sure how short the women had to have it in boot camp but once out in uniform it could not fall below the to of the collar.
Many wore it in a braid wound into a bun and others just had it cut stylishly short.

NO cornrows or mirco briads are allowed,
Get a nice short hair cut and perm before to you leave,
short enough so no hairs touch your collar,,
you will not have time to keep it neat nor to brush your teeth,,
you will have chance to get a hair cut in basic near the end of boot,
