I wonder about this a lot. There are such things as blondes brunettes and redheads but when it comes to my hair, I don't know the what to call it. I just call it "black hair". Also, ignoring hair color, is there a proper term for the type of hair that people of Caucasian or Asian decent have?

What you first started talking about is color but what you want to know is about texture.
There is straight, fine, thick, coarse, culry, wavy, kinky, medium. Anyone person can have any type of hair or a combination.
My hair is curly, wavy and fine(but alot of it).
Most people of African decent have curly or kinky hair while most Asians and Europeans have straight fine hair.
FYI "Black hair" isnt cool because I hate when people assume my hair is nappy because I'm part Black. So please do me a favor and stop saying that and tell other people to stop stereotyping all Black peoples hair by saying that.

I know what your saying but when you say Balck hair people automatically think nappy.
But all hair is chemically he same. its the cuticle that makes hair straight or frizz. If the cuticle rises the hair frizzes. Report It

Honey, It's all just hair. Don't waste your time trying to come up with a proper term. Move on to life's real important questions like Has Paris Hilton really changed since doing time in the slammer?

Not all black people have the same type of hair period. The 1st answer was the best one. There is natural black hair and relaxed black hair. Black hair is not a bad term. It's used by stylists and salons, it simply gives people an idea of the kind of hair that's being mentioned. Fine= smooth, thin Curly is obvious. Kinky can be tighter curls or waves Coarse=thick and less smooth. Medium is in between fine and coarse. You can say Ebony hair maybe..
