I'm african/native american an am thinking about getting extensions sewed into my hair.?
Whatever the texture of your hair, if the procedure is done properly it will benefit the growth of your natural hair. Try going to a natural hair salon that specializes in a clientele of women of color-- like New York's Khamit Kinks, which has done Beyonce's and Halle Berry's extensions. The bonding process is either done by polyfusion glue (a much healthier, safer alternative to regular glue processes) or actually stitched into your hair after braiding it. Check out the link below to note the differences in hair bonding processes and then make an appointment for a consultation with a certified hair technician to determine which would be best for you. Good Luck.

All I know is that extensions hurt very badly--the process of having them put in hurts, and having them in hurts because they are woven so tight.
If you are trying to grow out your hair, then just wait it out. Extensions will damage your hair.

from what I heard from friends it can cause some breakage to your hair if it done too tight, so if your hair is soft then you probaly shouldnt do it.

I've had the sewn in hair extensions and they do not hurt one bit. My goal was also to look like Beyonce lol! It's like getting your hair conrowed or getting braids. If I were you I would go to a hair salon that specializes in it (the person who did my hair specialized in doing braids/extensions) and they can give you the best answer. Having these hair extensions TREMENDOUSLY helped my hair grow. Before I had them my hair was about ear length...now it's a little past my shoulders. It also helped my hair grow strong and healthy. Everyone's hair is different and for me I saw positive results.
The cost differs from person to person but for me it was WELL WORTH it because for the first time I am able to put my hair into a pony tail! :)
Good luck in whatever decision you make! If you want more info you can email me at lilviper29@yahoo.com

I get my hair weaved all the time. Of course at the beginning it will be tight and uncomfortable but as time wears on it will loosen up. Now my hair is also soft and fine and the weaving tends to make my hair grow as well as (depending on how long you leave it in) cause damage. For the most part I leave it in no longer than a month and a half. I try to get hair (black diamond) that you can use for at least 6 months (meaning when you take it down after two 1/2 you can use the hair again. It can be expnsive depending on where you live and the salon you let weave your hair. I love this salon in Texas because my hair is fine a lot of times after two weeks the weave starts to slip they tighten it up 3 times free. So happy weaving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
