and when you get your hair relaxed do you have to straighten it everyday or is it naturally straight even when it gets wet?
just know i am not being racist its because like i hear mostly african american women get their hair relaxed but i just have really bad hair like frizzy and thick and wavy so do you think it will come out thin and straight?
Can you still get your hair relaxed even if your not african american?
It won't come out thin, but you can get it "relaxed" and it will be straighter than it is.
I did it a long time ago when I was in 8th grade. It's basically perm solution and they brush your hair for 20 minutes and rinse it out.
It still had a little bit of a wave to it, but it wasn't as bad.
My suggestion to you is to use Frizz-Ease hair Serum. I absolutely live by this stuff! You can put a little on and let your hair air dry after washing it, or you can put some on and blow dry it straight.
I am telling you, it's a miracle in a tiny little bottle!
Good luck!
Ok here we go. How can I NOT know what I am talking about if I had it done? I didn't say it was a great thing to do, but my hair was straighter than it was originally. My hair wasn't damaged from getting it done either. Hell, I can tell you the place that I got this done at. Whether or not it's the same process as the girl who's saying I don't know what I'm talking about, I have no idea. I was giving MY experience.
And I also mentioned another way to get smoother hair.
So for someone who doesn't know what she's talking about, I think I gave a pretty ok answer.
Oh no offense to you, either.

yes,but when you wash it gets curly so don't wash it every day,2 weeks after your perm, your not being racist!i know what your talking about
Can you still get your hair relaxed even if your not african american?
NO. The first thing I suggest is going to a black salon and get the stylists opinion there as they can see the condition, and texture of your hair and will tell you if your hair can handle the process. Another suggestion is get a large rodded perm to restructure the wave, curl, and frizziness in your hair.

If you have frizzy hair try Japanese or Brazilian hair straightening which is for non-ethnic hair. Many salons provide these services now, but it can be expensive. The results usually last about a year and I know girls that were Indian, Jewish, and half black / half white who have gotten it done and loved the results.

listen to me please. i'm sixty percent african american and my hair is thick and curly and frizzy. here's the thing. relaxers are very strong and even on hair like mine the y are too strong. even with my little forty percent of white. so you as a white person will burn your hair off by attempting to straiten it with a relaxer. it doesn't work. and on a black person yes it stays strait all the time but you shouldn't even try it. missy does not know what she is talking about. (no offense whatsoever)

yes..... but dont do it!!! it will damamge your hair excessively. my cousin had it done and fried her her to where it had to be cut off shoulder length and it was long to her waist. just use a straightner and save your hair.

I will answer all your questions and sort through these answers for you. ok, first of all that is not racist. Ethnic hair cannot handle what our hair can, its not racist, its a fact. There are certian straighening systems for ethnic hair and there are cream straighteners made especially for non ethnic hair. They work great, as long as they are applied properly. They do not in any way last a year, they last until you can see your regrowth, which will again be curly, but that takes awhile. You should not have to straighten your hair after getting it done, but you may have to use a shine serum if your normal hair is really frizzy. Also, if your hair is frizzy because it is not in good condition, you should not do this until you do a few weeks of deep conditioning treatments. No, it will not "thin" your hair. I would say they may cause some damage, but it would probably not be as bad as the damage you cause your hair by heat straightening it everyday. If it is done CORRECTLY, your hair will not break off. Hope this helps
